The complainant, Balwinder Kumbhra, said the peacock had remained trapped on the second and third floor of the building for three days from February 20 to 23 before dying.

In his complaint to the Sector 34 police station, Balwinder Singh Kumbhra today said that no action has been taken against any department officials despite the bird’s death. The complainant said that the bird was buried in the backyard of the building without informing the police or the wildlife department.

He further alleged cruelty on the part of the department officials in handling the situation as the bird reportedly died of starvation and suffocation.

Sources privy to the matter said the bird had strayed into the building after which it remained trapped for three days as the office remained closed. A purported video of the bird inside the building and an unknown person handling the bird had also been widely circulated on social media.
