The play is conceptualised and directed by Dr Vinod Narayan Indurkar, chairman of the centre, who aims to pay a fitting tribute to the enduring legacy of Rani Durgawati.

Durgawati, the remarkable 16th century warrior queen of the Gond kingdom, is renowned for her exceptional valour and resilience. She remains a symbol of unwavering strength and leadership in the face of adversity. Her pivotal role in defending her kingdom against the Mughal Forces, led by Akbar, showed her unwavering commitment to her peoples’ welfare and sovereignty. Despite facing overwhelming odds, she fearless led her army, displaying unparalleled courage until her demise in 1564. Dr Indurkar said, the play was a testament to her indomitable spirit and served as a reminder of her enduring legacy, inspiring generations to come.
