With the arrest of five persons, the city police claimed to have busted a gang involved in several thefts and robberies. The police siezed two .32 pistols, eight live cartridges, gold ornaments, and other items from the accused.
A police team had received information that Robin Kumar, alias Rambo, Deepak Kumar, alias Deepu, and others were in possession of firearms and were planning a robbery in a vacant room near the cremation ground at Bandugar.
The police raided the spot and arrested Robin, a resident of Hakima Street, Nabha; Deepak Kumar, a resident of Bajigar Basti, Nabha; Manpreet Singh, alias Malli, a resident of Sukhram Colony, Patiala; Ranjit Kumar, alias Neta, a resident of Chhujju Singh Khatra Colony, Nabha; and Manoj Kumar, alias Monu, a resident of Makan Hira Mahal Colony, Nabha.
The accused were sent to a three-day remand. According to the police, the gang’s leader was Ranjit Kumar, alias Neta. These accused had met in Patiala and Nabha jails. After being released from jail, they formed a gang and planned to commit robberies and thefts with firearms. The police have recovered approximately 230 grams of gold jewellery from them, which they had previously looted.
