Preeti Yadav assumes charge as Patiala Deputy Commissioner
Dr Preeti Yadav, an IAS officer of the 2014 batch, officially assumed charge as the new Deputy Commissioner of Patiala today, succeeding Showkat Ahmad Parray, who was transferred to Bathinda.
Yadav has joined at a time when the paddy harvesting season is all set to start. Patiala had witnessed over 5,000 stubble-burning incidents last year.
Upon taking charge, Dr Yadav expressed her familiarity with the district, having previously served as the Additional Deputy Commissioner in Patiala.
Dr Yadav extended an open invitation to the people of Patiala to share their ideas and suggestions for the district’s progress and development. She said all suggestions, sent directly to the Deputy Commissioner’s office at dc.ptl@punjab.gov.in, would be personally reviewed and acted upon promptly. Additionally, she emphasised the DC’s office remained open to addressing any public concerns related to government services.
Dr Yadav urged citizens to help protect the environment. She encouraged residents to preserve the district’s existing greenery and participate in tree-planting initiatives to combat rising temperatures.
Earlier, Dr Yadav was welcomed at the District Administration Complex with a ceremonial Guard of Honour presented by a contingent of the Punjab Police. The staff of the Deputy Commissioner’s office bid farewell to the outgoing DC Parray and warmly greeted Dr Yadav as she stepped into her new role.
The officials present during the ceremony included SSP Dr Nanak Singh, Municipal Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, CA PDA Manisha Rana, ADC (G) Kanchan, ADC (Rural Development) Dr Harjinder Singh Bedi, ASP (City-1) Vaibhav Chaudhary, ADC (Urban Development) Navreet Kaur Sekhon, among other dignitaries.
