Miffed over action against Sukdev Singh Dhindsa by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal, a few local party leaders resigned from their posts here today.

Terming the decision “arbitrary”, former district president (rural) of the party, Randhir Rakhra, along with others, submitted their resignation. The leaders, in their resignation, said the said decision of the party president against Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and his son was taken without consulting the party workers.

Rakhra said going by the set procedures, the party had decided to serve a show-cause notice to both father and son. However, the party president immediately suspended them in haste. He said the decision to suspend Sukhdev was dictatorial one.

The party workers said the language used by the party president against Dhindsa was non-acceptable and it only showed that he (Sukhbir Badal) had failed to run the party in a proper way.

The other officer-bearers, who have resigned included Ajay Thapar, Sarabjit Tohra, Major Singh, Joginder Singh, Lovely Bajwa and Jasvir Singh Jassi.

Rakhra said, “People have already started losing faith in the party because the party leaders and workers are being ignored. The party should immediately take some corrective measures to save the party.”
