Punjab Health Minister leads Nasha Mukti Yatra in Patiala

As part of the Punjab government’s “War Against Drugs” initiative, the second phase of the Nasha Mukti Yatra resumed today in Patiala district. Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh led the campaign by participating in awareness programmes held at Nawan Fatehpur, Dhanouri, Dhanoura and Diagarh villages.

Balbir Singh emphasised that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the state government is taking revolutionary steps in every sector to realise the vision of a “Rangla Punjab”. As part of these efforts, a comprehensive campaign has been launched to eliminate the menace of drugs. He said drug addiction was a social curse and defeating it required the collective responsibility and participation of every citizen.

The Health Minister administered an anti-drugs pledge to the villagers and described the campaign as a fight for a secure future of the coming generations. He appealed to Village Defense Committees to actively support the government’s initiatives and continuously spread awareness against drug abuse in their communities.

Dr Balbir Singh also urged villagers to bring individuals struggling with addiction to government-run de-addiction centres, where they are provided free treatment, counselling, rehabilitation and skill-based training for self-employment.
