Punjab Vigilance Bureau nabs Patran man for taking Rs 25K bribe
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Wednesday arrested a resident of Patran town in Patiala district after he was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000.
The accused has been identified as Ajaib Singh.
Disclosing this here on Wednesday, a VB spokesperson said the accused was arrested following a complaint filed by Gopi Chander, a resident of the same town.
He said the complainant had approached the VB and said that he was running a hotel, Noormahal, in the town.
The accused and his accomplice, Sikandar Singh, a resident of Dugaal village, had asked him to a bribe of Rs 25,000 in the name of Patran DSP to ensure that his business ran smoothly.
The spokesperson said following the complaint, a VB team laid a trap and caught Ajaib red-handed while he was accepting the bribe in the presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard, a case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Patiala Range VB police station.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
