Punjabi University Vice-Chancellor Arvind honoured nine girls of Silver Jubilee Hostel. Seven of these girls have become judicial magistrates while one is a sub-inspector.

Another girl, Jaspreet Kaur, has received a grant under the Prime Minister’s Youth Mentorship.

Addressing the gathering, Professor Arvind said the university was an institution that fulfilled the dreams of higher education of rural sections of Punjab, especially girls. These girls have proved this with their achievements. The achievements of these girls put a stamp on the education standard of Punjabi University.

He said the university was proud of its talented students.

These girls, who have become judges, have studied from the Law Department of Punjabi University. Of them, Aagyapal Kaur, Kajal, Harjoban Gill and Ravneet Kaur attended the ceremony, while Avneet Kaur, Anjali and Arshdeep Kaur could not make it to the program, so their relatives got the honour.

Relatives of Sub-inspector Sarbjit Kaur also received the honour on her behalf. Jaspreet Kaur from the Department of Punjabi wrote a novel based on the biography of Gadri warrior Banta Singh Sangwal, “Gadar Di Rah Par”. Jaspreet Kaur recently got the opportunity to meet President Draupadi Murmu for the project.
