Punjabi varsity students  force open hostels, library


Patiala, October 1

Students of Punjabi University today forcefully opened the university library and boys’ and girls’ hostels.

Led by a number of student organisations, including the Democratic Students’ Organisation (DSO), the All-India Research Scholar Association (AIRSA) and the Student Organisation of India (SOI), the students went to boys’ hostels 4 and 6 and working women hostel. Vikram Singh Baghi of the DSO said the students brought their keys and opened the doors of the hostel rooms.

University officials said they would allow opening of hostels and access to library and other facilities only as per the government guidelines. — TNS
