Patiala, July 5

The rainfall yesterday exposed the tall claims of the MC regarding monsoon preparedness as several areas were inundated.

The city registered 68.6 mm of rainfall till Sunday morning. The areas near the Nabha Gate, Language Department and Model Town were flooded. Other areas where drains were choked are book market, ‘dhobi ghat’ and Sai market.

Residents of Anardana Chowk were happy over the construction of new roads in the area due to which flooding was prevented.

The MC’s project of shifting of dairy farmers to Ablowal village is not yet complete. The Joint Commissioner said: “The project is in progress.” Commissioner Lal Vishwas said: “The MC and the Drainage Department are continuing the work of cleaning of all drains in their respective areas. The work is expected to be completed soon.” — TNS
