As my PRTC bus weaves through the roads of the royal city of Patiala, I spot a huge statue of Lord Parshuram through my window. I look forward to seeing the famous palace/forts that housed the royalty once, even if it is only through the window of my bus, and get excited when I spot one. Red, high walls made of sandstone. But the excitement soon dampens when my mother tells me it's actually the entryway to a restaurant that is the replica of a fort.

We soon reach the bus stand. The bus halts a few moments there. As it exits I see over a 100 two-wheelers parked near its gate. Must belong to those Patialvis who leave their royal city to be slaves to their respective trade. Riding in the common man’s chariot daily, I can so relate to this feeling as my bus makes its way to my office.
