Fatehgarh Sahib, February 27
Unknown car-borne robbers allegedly looted Rs 22.25 lakh from a bike rider near Madhopur Chowk on GT Road, Sirhind. The bike rider was going to deliver cash to someone in the Mandi Gobindgarh town.
The complainant, Satbir Singh, a resident of Cheema Mandi in Sangrur, said he works with his brother-in-law Sukhpal Singh. On February 23, Sukhpal gave him Rs 22.25 lakh which he had to hand over to Raghunath Singla in Mandi Gobindgarh.
He said he was going to Mandi Gobindgarh on his motorcycle and as soon as he reached near the underbridge of Madhopur bypass at Sirhind town, a car intercepted them.
There were four people in the car and three of them got down and started hitting him with sticks.
They ran away with his money bag and phone. He said that he was rushed to a private hospital in Mohali and his arm was fractured.
Sub-Inspector Baljinder Singh said the police have registered a case against unknown persons and started the investigation. He said the accused will be arrested soon.
