SAD (Democratic) questions farm ordinances

The Shiromani Akali Dal (Democratic) leader, Bir Devinder Singh, along with Sewa Singh Sekhwan and others, raised questions on farm ordinances brought in by the Central Government and the Essential Commodities Act (amendment) during a press conference here today.

An FIR should be registered regarding disappearance of saroops. The SGPC has been removing employees for the lapse, but senior functionaries, including its president, should also take responsibility. The leaders also questioned the action of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) regarding disappearance of ‘saroops’ of Guru Granth Sahib from the committee’s publishing house.

Earlier, the interim committee of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee had stated that over 328 ‘saroops’ were missing, but had failed to give explanation about their whereabouts.

“Moreover, an FIR should be registered regarding the matter. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has been removing employees for the lapse, but senior functionaries, including the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president, should also take responsibility,” Bir Devinder Singh said.

“Farm agreements to be signed by farmers will in no way benefit them, but will be instrumental in the growth of corporate houses,” the former Punjab Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker added.

On the controversy regarding Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale, Sewa Singh Sekhwan said, “The Akal Takht should have taken notice and acted when Dhadrianwale was attacked. They should now form a Sikh intellectuals committee to tackle all controversies.”
