SAD ex-councillor Babbi Mann found dead at his office in Patiala

Former Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) councillor Babbi Mann died after he allegedly shot himself in the forehead at his office in Patiala on Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred when Mann was sitting inside his office, located across from his residence near Hanuman Mandir in Ragho Majra. Hearing the gunshot, family members and nearby residents rushed to the spot and informed the police.

Kotwali Station House Officer (SHO) Jaspreet Singh Kahlon said the site was being inspected and a forensic team had been called.

“Preliminary investigation suggests it was a case of suicide, though the exact cause will be confirmed after forensic and medical examination,” he said.

Inspector Kahlon added that Mann’s family has so far not lodged any complaint or raised suspicion of foul play. “The investigation is ongoing,” he said.

According to initial information, Mann had gone from his home to his office earlier in the afternoon. A short while later, a gunshot was heard, and he was found lying in a pool of blood inside the office.

Police have recovered the weapon from the spot and sent the body for a postmortem examination.
