The fourth evening of the Patiala Heritage Festival-2025 was turned into a musical spectacle as renowned sitar maestro Niladri Kumar and acclaimed tabla player Satyajit Talwalkar captivated the audience with their extraordinary musical synergy.

Held in the open courtyard of Durbar Hall at Qila Mubarak, the concert drew music lovers from across the region.

Niladri Kumar, known for his ability to seamlessly blend innovation with tradition, began his performance with a special recital on the ‘Zitar’ (electric sitar), fulfilling a special request from Patiala’s enthusiastic audience. He opened with a fusion of “Raag Tilak Nat” and “Tilak Kamod”, skilfully bringing out the depth of sound in his instrument. His performance then transitioned into the serene and timeless melodies of Raag Bhairavi, evoking a deep emotional connection with the audience. The synergy between Niladri Kumar’s sitar and Satyajit Talwalkar’s rhythmic mastery on the tabla created an enchanting atmosphere, with every note resonating through the grand setting of the illuminated Qila Mubarak.

The event, organised under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Dr Preeti Yadav, was aimed at promoting Punjab’s rich cultural heritage and reviving interest in classical music among the younger generation. Several distinguished guests graced the occasion, including MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli, Punjab Mandi Board Chairman Harchand Singh Barsat, Municipal Corporation Mayor Kundan Gogia, Nodal Officer ADC Isha Singal, and SDM Tarsem Chand.
