Patiala, August 4
A talent identification programme conducted by the Cycling Federation of India with the aim of encouraging youth for sports at the grassroots level concluded at the Polo Ground here.
Boys and girls (12 to 14 years) from Patiala, Sangrur, SAS Nagar, Malerkotla and Fatehgarh Sahib participated in these trials. The convener of the programme, Jagdeep Singh Kahlon, expressed gratitude towards the district administration for its support for the trials. He said the programme was conducted under the guidance of Onkar Singh, secretary general, Asian Cycling Confederation; and Maninderpal Singh, secretary general, Cycling Federation of India, in Punjab. The youngsters selected will be sent to the academies of the CFI, where accommodation, food, training and sports equipment would be provided free of cost. — TNS
