A major mishap was averted at RIMT Group OP Bansal Modern School, Mandi Gobindgarh, due to a malfunctioning air conditioner in a classroom.
Thick smoke engulfed the room, suffocating students and teachers. They were being rushed out when a stampede took place, resulting in injuries to several students and teachers who were admitted to the RIMT Hospital on the campus. The management dismissed it as a minor incident and did not allow the media on campus.
More than 10 students and teachers have been undergoing treatment after the incident.
