Patiala, November 4

The protest of Punjabi University students, who are demanding opening of varsity campus for offline classes, today entered the third day today. Students held a protest march from the VC office till library.

Varinder Khurana of the All India Students Federation (AISF) said, “We have been protesting for regular functioning of the university for last three days. University officials are not taking decision on the matter. Students are suffering due to lack of proper classes.”

The protest is being held by student organisations, including AISF, SFI, PSU and PSU (Lalkar). Students said university campus could open as per the Unlock-5 guidelines. Higher education institutes were allowed to open from October 15 for PhD scholars and postgraduate students in the science and technology stream requiring laboratory/experimental works, said Khurana.

Students have decided to ‘gherao’ the office of Dean (Academics) on November 6 if their demand is not met. — TNS
