Takht Damdama Sahib Jathedar pays obeisance at Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib

Ahead of the Shaheedi Jor Mela, Jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh on Sunday paid obeisance at the Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, where younger Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh were bricked alive.

The jathedar was accompanied by Akali Dal Sudhar Lehar leaders, including Surjit Singh Rakhra, Karnail Singh Panjoli, a Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member and others.

He parried a query posed by mediapersons regarding his 15-day suspension by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee . “Howsoever big and powerful the ruler may be, so long as we have ‘Garhi of Chamkaur Sahib’ (where the elder sons of Guru Gobind Singh sacrificed their life), ‘Sirhind Di Diwar’ (where the younger Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh were bricked alive) and ‘Thanda Burj’ (where Mata Gujri, the mother of Guru Gobind Singh, and the younger Sahibzadas were kept in confinement) inspire us, no one can harm us,” he said in an indirect response.

The jathedar further added, “The history of the Sikhs and martyrdoms of Sahibzadas motivates us to hold our heads high and maintain our self-respect whatever the price may be.”
