Protest of contractual teachers of Punjabi University’s constituent colleges entered eight day today. Teachers demanding regularisation of their services have decided to boycotted academic work.
Dr Lovedeep Sharma, president, Punjabi University Contractual Teachers’ Association (PUCTA), said, “The protest is taking place in 15 colleges. We have decided to boycott the entire academic work.” Earlier, the contractual teachers had held similar protests and the university had increased their basic pay from Rs 21,600 to Rs 30,000 and later to Rs 44,000.
Sharma said over 100 contractual professors are protesting and another 100 deputed at neighbourhood campus and regional centres and the university main campus have similar demands. — TNS
