Teenage girl stabbed to death in Patiala

Patiala, March 7

In a shocking incident, a 15-year-old girl was stabbed to death with a knife by her friend, while the younger sister of the victim died due to shock as she witnessed the murder. The incident took place at around 7.30 pm on Wednesday near Sanauri Adda. The suspect fled, following which the Kotwali police registered a case and started investigating the matter.

The police said the victim, Salma, was a friend of the suspect, Arun Kumar. They added that Arun had told Salma’s parents that he would marry their daughter, following which they filed a police case some months ago. However, later, both parties struck a compromise, and the complaint was withdrawn.

On Wednesday, the victim was returning home from a temple when the suspect approached her. This led to a heated argument, and Arun stabbed Salma multiple times, which resulted in her death. Patiala SP (City) Sarfaraz Alam said, “The victim was rushed to the hospital, where she was declared dead.”

The victim’s younger sister, Husanpreet Kaur, who witnessed the gruesome attack was also where she was declared dead. “Prima facie, it appears that the victim was shocked by the tragic death of her elder sister,” added Alam.

Meanwhile, the father of the victims, Pankaj, said he was shocked to know that he had lost his daughters within 24 hours, adding that he had never expected such a tragedy. “Arun has shattered my family. He should be out behind bars immediately,” he said.

The SP said raids are underway to nab the suspect.
