Barnala: Tehsil office employee caught taking bribe

A team of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau, Patiala Range, today caught Kulbir Singh, a technical assistant with Mehal Kalan Tehsildar’s office in Barnala district, allegedly for taking a bribe of Rs 35,000 in lieu of land registration.
Sharing details, a spokesperson for the bureau said the case had been registered on the basis of a complaint filed by Sanjeev Singh, a resident of Mehal Kalan.
Sanjeev had alleged that the official had demanded Rs 40,000 to facilitate the land registration.
Following a preliminary investigation into the complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team caught the employee while taking a bribe of Rs 35,000 from the complainant.
A case has been registered against the suspect under anti-corruption laws at the Vigilance Bureau, Range Patiala. He would be presented before the court. The role of other officials/employees would also be investigated during the probe.
