The National Theatre Festival, organised by Kalakriti (Patiala) and the Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust, concluded this evening at the Kalidas Auditorium here with the staging of play “Koi Ek Raat” by Anukriti Rangmandal, Kanpur.
The festival, organised in collaboration with the North Zone Cultural Centre and the Language Department, was a tribute to late Pritam Singh Oberoi. The play, written by Ashok Singh, is directed by Omendra Kumar. It tells the story of a single night between mother Purva (Sandhya Singh) and daughter Sumi (Deepika Singh), reflecting the pain, compromises and anger of the past years. The mother and daughter’s paths connect through the film world and theatre, but their thoughts and experiences are completely different.
The powerful performances of both actors, Sandhya and Deepika, kept the audience captivated until the end. Festival director Parminder Kaur was appreciated by the guests for including the best plays from across the country in the festival.
