Patiala, July 9
The Department of Forest and Wildlife along with officials of the Indian Army started a drive for plantation of 40,000 saplings at the Army Cantonment area here yesterday. The department officials planted saplings at Bir Kheri Gujran.
The Forest Department celebrated Vanmahotsava with officials of the Indian Army. They said, “The Army officials have started a mass tree plantation drive in the Cantonment area. They will plant 40,000 saplings provided by the Forest Department. Senior officers of the Indian Army and staff of the Patiala Forest Division were present at the inauguration ceremony today.”
The department officials celebrated Hariyali Mahotsav 2022 and carried out a ceremonial plantation drive in Nagar Van at Bir Kheri Gujran as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav programme started by the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change. The programme was inaugurated by Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Pareek. The planting was done with participation of the district administration, NGOs, schoolchildren and staff of Patiala Forest Division.
