Waterlogging: MLA, MC officer visit Badi Nadi area in Patiala
Patiala, July 9
On the receiving end following criticism that the civic body and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had done precious little to address the waterlogging problem in the city, Patiala MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwa visited Badi Nadi today to inspect its cleanliness and flood prevention measures.
The visit came in the wake of a flood, as residents of Urban Estate and other areas located near Badi Nadi kept their belongings and furniture at safer locations.
Kohli said all arrangements by the Municipal Corporation and the Drainage Department are complete, adding that there was no need for city residents to worry.
Addressing mediapersons, he said the city is safeguarded from rainwater damage as the Municipal Corporation has already made arrangements for the drainage of rainwater. Kohli said a comprehensive cleaning project at Badi Nadi is underway to ensure a smooth flow of water.
He said it was natural for people to panic due to last year’s flooding; however, he assured the public that the state government and the MC have completed all necessary preparations.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwa said a super suction machine was being used for the cleaning of sewer lines in the city, adding that another super suction machine has also been arranged to prevent any sewer blockage problems. He said the cleaning of the Jacob Drain is also nearing completion.
