Woman, son fall into canal in Patiala

A woman and her son drowned in the Bhakhra Canal after the former allegedly slipped while performing a religious ritual near Daftriwal village.

While the woman’s body was found today near Khanauri in Sangrur, her three-year-old son is still untraceable.

According to the police, the woman, identified as Gurpreet Kaur, was accompanied by her son, Gurnaaj Singh. “As she, along with her son, performed the ritual, her husband and daughter waited in the car. She slipped and both fell into the canal,” said the police. The incident took place on Sunday when the woman and her family were on the way to her parent’s house.

The police are investigating the matter.
