Patiala, July 6
Punjabi University, Patiala, concluded its fortnight-long advanced sign language workshop and training programme today. Participants from over seven states, including Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, participated in the programme.
Arun Rai, a sign language expert associated with the association of sign language interpreters and Rupmani Chhetri, deaf community manager at SignAble, a social impact start-up that works with the deaf community, were also part of the 15-day event in which participants were trained with using sign language to better support communication with others.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Arvind said the university apart from organising such events was also working on developing technology for people with special needs including development of various software and technologies.
