Workshop on youth mental health held

The Directorate of International Affairs, Punjabi University, hosted Punjab Samvad programme on the theme “Mind what matters: A Spotlight on Youth Mental Health”.

The workshop conducted under the aegis of Punjab Samvad Series took up various mental health issues being faced by international students and scholars. Prof Jagdeep Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Punjabi University, was the chief guest on the occasion.

Interacting with the international students in the university, he said they will represent the university at global level. He motivated the students to learn basic Punjabi and encouraged them to take care of their mental health in the digital era. He said with the recent technological advancements, lifestyle had changed drastically and life had become more stressful because of the influence of social media.

Dr Damanjeet Sandhu, Dean, International Students, Punjabi University, welcomed all the dignitaries and said it was eighth programme under the Punjab Samvad Series.

Dr Ajay Sahni, Director, Institute of Conflict Management, Delhi; Dr Shilpa Suri, Counselling Psychologist, Chandigarh; Dr Parvarjot Kaur, Senior Resident, Psychiatry, Rajinda Hospital; and Dr Porimita C Gogoi, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, PGIMER, Chandigarh, were the resource persons for the programme.
