YAD demands FIR against MLA Bains

Activists of the Youth Akali Dal (YAD) today held a protest in Patiala demanding registration of an FIR against Ludhiana MLA Simarjit Singh Bains over allegations of rape levelled against him by a resident of the same city. The activists burnt an effigy of the MLA at Khanda Chowk.

Amit Singh Rathi, member, YAD, said the government should register an FIR against the MLA. No FIR had been registered against Bains yet as Congress leaders were supporting him, protesters claimed.

“We will continue protesting against the state government until an FIR is registered against Bains,” Rathi added.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
