Head held high

Singer Harleen Singh started his musical journey with a band called Sound of Silence during school and college days. He later did independent gigs.
Born in Ludhiana, his family shifted to Bhopal and his musical journey continued there as well. He shot his first song Sikhan Di Shaan Hai Turban in 2014. He has also sung the Ikk Kudi cover version for Zee Music Company. His latest song Lihaaj is an upbeat number and it has already garnered two million views. The song gives out a message for society—to stop the dowry system.
Your swag?
Definitely my turban!
Punjabi singer that you find stylish…
I like Tasrem Jassar for his songs are inspirational and also because he wears the turban beautifully.
Latest buy
I haven’t bought anything since the lockdown started. Before the lockdown, I bought myself a flat. It was indeed a good decision and paid off really well considering I spent three months at home. (laughs)
Street smart vs brand game…
I like the way branded clothe makes you feel. I prefer branded clothes always.
Must-haves in wardrobe?
I can never have enough of jackets, watches and shoes.
Career goals?
I wish to sing for a Bollywood film.
An artiste you wish to collaborate with?
Tania. I liked her work in the film, Sufna.
Celeb you would like to date?
It would be Tania only, for she is the artiste I enjoy watching.
If not a singer, then…
I would have been working for some IT company. I am a graduate in computer science as well as in music.
Your idea of a perfect place for a date?
Paris.
Traditional attire you like?
I like to wear well-fitted kurta pyjama. I recently got one tailored from Amritsar.
What turns you off?
I don’t like anyone cracking jokes at someone’s expense.
Your views on fitness?
It is my first priority and comes way before riyaaz. You cannot be a singer for long if you aren’t paying attention to your health. I am more of an outdoor person when it comes to workout. I like to step out for jogging or running and breathe the fresh air.
One word to describe yourself…
Rocking-performer.
Unwind yourself by?
When I am not working on my music or listening to others, I like to watch Hollywood movies.
Lockdown special
The big lockdown realisation
That I have talked to my parents more than I used to. I realised how much I need them and rely on them on day to day basis and especially in a crisis.
House chore that you enjoy or detest?
I enjoyed cooking. From a novice, I feel I have come close to becoming a professional. I have tried many complex recipes to test my skills during the lockdown.
First thing you did after the lockdown?
First, I sent my maid on a salaried leave and also completed post-production work of my single Lihaaj.
You binge-watched…
I watched Hollywood classics. I prefer movies over series.
