One dead, another hurt as roof collapses in Abohar

A 45-year-old labourer died while another was injured when the roof of an old house in the Nai Abadi area collapsed on Sunday. The injured was admitted to the Civil Hospital for treatment.

The police reached the spot and kept the body in the mortuary for post mortem and started action on the basis of the statement of the concerned family members.

The deceased was identified as Puran Chand Pappu while the injured was identified as Jagat Ram.

Jagat said he and Puran were demolishing the house owned in Nai Abadi. Around 1 pm, the roof of the building collapsed suddenly, leaving both of them seriously injured. The duo was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared Puran dead.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
