Addiction a systemic crisis, not moral failure
Unless we address the roots of the drug business, we will lose an entire generation to addiction.
PEOPLE across the globe have been using and abusing one or the other intoxicant over centuries. An intoxicant/drug is a substance that alters the functions of the body. Some intoxicants even have a social and religious sanction. Thus, there is a need to understand that drug addiction and abuse is a multidimensional phenomenon embedded in social, cultural, economic and political ground realities; it is a systemic problem.
