The Tribune’s chronicle of Punjab and Partition
Master Tara Singh, along with Sardar Baldev Singh, warned the Cabinet Mission of evil consequences as the Sikhs might not obtain the same rights as Muslims and Hindus.
THE TRIBUNE was started with the objective of countering the general tendency in educational institutions of Punjab to take to the Oriental instead of Western learning. Dyal Singh Majithia started The Tribune on February 2, 1881, as mentioned by SN Banerjee in his memoir 'A Nation in the Making'. The aim was to fairly and temperately advance the cause of the mute masses and spread the doctrine of Indian nationalism to bring about unity in a divided society.
