PRESIDENT Donald Trump has fired an ominous salvo at India ahead of a US trade team’s visit to this country. Accusing India of dumping rice into the American market, he has declared that tariffs will easily solve this problem. Trump continues to believe that tariffs are a magic bullet for myriad economic troubles, even though lower courts in the US have ruled against his use of emergency powers to impose them on nations around the world. The US Supreme Court will now decide the case, which the President desperately wants to win.
