The security forces have killed 22 terrorists in the past two weeks, according to the Director-General of Police, Dilbag Singh.

“The J&K police, in a complete synergy of other wings of the security agencies, was able to send a message to the terrorists that their life span has been reduced drastically,” Dilbag told the media here on Monday.

“Pakistan is pushing terrorists to Jammu and Kashmir. However, alert forces at the borders and the Jammu and Kashmir police, along with the CAPF, have a great synergy in the hinterlands and are thwarting the most-wicked action planned by the neighbouring country and its terrorist handlers,” stated Dilbag Singh on Monday.

The DGP complimented the security forces for successful operations. He said during the past two weeks, 22 terrorists were neutralised with the cooperation from the people. The operations involved the least collateral damages in most of the operations.

The J&K police, the Army and the CAPF were making all-out efforts in providing a more peaceful atmosphere for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, he added.

He said: “Pakistan and its terrorist handlers are hell-bent upon disturbing the ever-improving security environment of Jammu and Kashmir by training and sending in terrorists by the way of infiltration to J&K. the uniformed forces at the borders are alert and bravely foiling most of such attempts of infiltration by these terrorists.”

He added that still, a sizeable number of terrorists got through the rough and tedious terrains along the IB and the LOC, who perpetrated acts of violence and terror against innocent civilians.

A number of Pakistani terrorists active here were getting killed and left behind unimpeachable incriminating material to show the involvement of Pakistan in the ongoing terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

The DGP said so far this year, 88 terrorists had been neutralised in 35 operations and 40 terrorist associates, who were providing a direct support system to these terrorists, were arrested.

As many as 240 OGWs were also arrested for helping these terrorists by instigating law and order problems and many of them were booked under the PSA, he added.

The DGP said Pakistan was sponsoring and financing different outfits of terrorists. He added: “A large number of social media sites were being used by Pakistan agencies/handlers to lure the youth of Jammu and Kashmir but our police and the intelligence agencies are foiling such attempts.”

He said our efforts and people’s cooperation have yielded good results in keeping our youth away from violence. “Due to the good teamwork by the Army, the CAPFs and the J&K police, we have succeeded in maintaining peace and order in Jammu Kashmir and the cooperation and support from the people here is commendable,” the DGP added.

Speaking about the fight against COVID-19, the DGP said the commitment and dedication shown by our jawans on the ground were praiseworthy.

He said the J&K police and the security forces had shown professionalism in facing many challenges over the past three decades, and this time around too, they had shown courage and determination in facing the challenge of COVID-19 bravely while supporting various agencies in fighting the deadly virus.

He said that many police personnel, who were infected by the virus were recovering.

“I hope the officers and jawans of the J&K police will continue to fight the virus and continue to provide assistance to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and simultaneously keep a check on the law and order and anti-national activities,” the DGP said.
