The Amritsar Central Jail and the Department of Prison and Correctional Services in collaboration with the Department of Ayurveda, organised a free ayurvedic medical camp under the mission ‘Healthy Punjab’ here.
The camp was organised under the supervision of Dr Atamjit Singh Basra, District Ayurvedic Officer Cum Drug Inspector and Arshdeep Singh Gill, Superintendent, Amritsar Central Jail. A team of Ayurvedic Medical Officers provided free checkup and Ayurvedic pharmacies donated free medicines for sick prisoners. The camp was held at the Jail hospital and female ward and over 800 prisoners were examined at the camp.
Dr Basra also talked about few homemade remedies and motivated prisoners to lead healthy life. The Hindustan Parchar Sabha donated 1,217 books through Lahore Book Shop for the prison library. Arshdeep said the books would guide the prison inmates and would be useful for their knowledge and overall development of mental health.
