Faridkot, November 9
Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) is facing a big challenge since its establishment. The medical university is going to conduct a written test at 359 centres in 20 districts in the state on November 14 for 800 posts of ward attendant in the Health Department. In this test, about 1.50 lakh candidates are going to appear and it is being conducted in one go.
For the huge number of candidates appearing in this test, the university has sought the help of the district administration, police and all educational institutes in 20 districts of the state.
The School Education Department has already issued directions to all schools to cooperate with the university in conducting the test by providing their buildings and employees.
To ensure there is no impersonation, the university had decided to do videography of all candidates at the exam centres, said Dr Raj Bahadur, Vice Chancellor, BFUHS.
A ward attendant will fetch a salary of Rs 18,000 on regularisation of service. A candidate will have to compete with 200 others for getting the job.
While a candidate must pass middle standard with Punjabi language as one of the subjects for the post, many postgraduates have also applied. The age limit is between 18 and 37 years and there is five-year relaxation in age for SC/BC candidates and 10-year relaxation for physically handicapped candidates.
