Though the exact sequence of events leading to the pile-up was yet to be ascertained, preliminary investigations revealed that a truck collided with an electric pole installed on the divider of the highway. It remained stranded in the middle of the road which resulted in a pile-up of vehicles that included trucks, tempos and cars.

Panthey said he had reached the spot after receiving information of the pile-up from one of his friends. “Though the spot fell under the jurisdiction of Payal subdivision we reached the spot as it was nearer to our location,” said Panthey, adding enough arrangements were made to get victims first aid and leave them at their place of choice.
