The SDM-cum-Returning Officer today suspended 10 government employees — eight teachers, one librarian and a junior assistant — for abstaining from the poll duty.

The order says the very important work of elections has been badly hit due to their gross negligence. The elections for the vacant posts of panches in 14 villages and sarpanch of one village in Gidderbaha were held on Sunday. Those suspended are Sagar Gaba, Gamdoor Singh, Joginderpal Singh, Avtar Singh, Dinesh Kumar, Vikram Singh, Gurjinder Singh, Manjit Singh, Rupinder Singh and Sunil Kumar.
