109-yr-old gets Covid's first jab

Abohar/Sriganganagar, March 9

Har Kaur (109) was among 6,496 elderly persons who were inoculated at 85 centres in Sriganganagar district on Monday.

She was administered the first dose of the Covid vaccine at the Public Health Centre, Banda Colony.

On the occasion, Dr Anil Bhadoo and his team greeted the elderly woman.

Chief Medical Health Officer Dr Girdhari Mehrada said 5,249 persons took the first dose and 1,249 were administered the second one in a single day. The beneficiaries were told not to lower the guard and continue to use face mask and follow social distancing.

Reproductive and Child Health Officer Dr HS Brar said for the convenience of elderly people, vaccination centers had been set up in the public health centres located near the International Border.
