As many as 117 students of Class 10 were in for a surprise as they sat for their English Language and Literature exam (Code No.184) of the CBSE. The students were instead given a question paper for Communicative English (Code No. 101). It was found that Victoria Public School, Lehra, did not fill the right option for their students to the board.

Upon reaching the examination centre, Nankana Public School near GNE College, the students found that the question paper they received was not the one they had prepared for. The shocking revelation left both students and parents distressed.

Some parents accused the school authorities of misleading them by saying that the CBSE had changed the syllabus a few days ago. They said when they inquired with other schools in the area, they found that all other students received question papers based on the syllabus.

CBSE City Coordinator Harmit Kaur Waraich admitted that there was a mistake on part of the school. When the lists and roll numbers were dispatched by the board, the school should have checked all the details. Due to the lackadaisical approach, students suffered, she added.

Victoria Public School Principal Bipan Sethi, when asked about the incident, said there was no such issue. It was the literature part of about 24 marks that created panic as students were not prepared, Sethi added.
