The deceased, a resident of Moti Nagar in Jalandhar, was taken to the IMA facility at Shahkot when he died, said doctors. The previous death in the district took place on June 3 when a 64-year-old Covid patient had died.
Dr Navjot Dahiya, president of the state IMA chapter, said the deceased had been receiving treatment at a private hospital where he was tested positive for Covid. He had also been taken to the Civil Hospital, but the family decided to shift him to the IMA facility. “He died within minutes of being brought to the IMA facility. He had co-morbidities, including hypertension, diabetes and heart diseases,” said Dr Dahiya.
Dr TP Singh, nodal officer for Covid in Jalandhar, said, “So far, no previous contact of the deceased has been established but the process to track and test his family is on.”
In Faridkot’s Kotkapura town, 13 members of a joint family have been tested positive. Their samples were collected four days ago after two members were tested positive for Covid, said Dr Rajinder Kumar, Civil Surgeon, Faridkot.
In Ludhiana, all 11 fresh cases are contacts of the already positive persons.
