A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth at Bilaspur village in Nihalsinghwala sub-division of the district.

The victim, in her statement recorded with the police, alleged that Tarsem Singh called her at his home for some work. When she went there, he pulled her inside a room and allegedly raped her.

The police, after recording her statement, got her medically examined from a government hospital, which prima facie established that she was sexually assaulted, a police official said. The youth had threatened to kill her if she told about the incident to anybody, she told the police. The police have registered a criminal case under Sections 376, 506 of the IPC and Section 4 of the POCSO Act. — TNS24
