Eighteen persons, who were heading from Sriganganagar to Jaipur, suffered injuries after their bus collided with a tractor-trailer on Tuesday night near Dhannasar in Hanumangarh.
Those injured have been identified Satpal Singh of Tahliwala Fazilka, Bhavishya, a resident of Sardarpura, Shesh Narayan Subedi of Nepal, Pramod Kumar and Tulsi Devi of Chak 12 KWD village, Mahavir and Manju of Kikraliya, Mahalam and Shiv Prakash of Sriganganagar, Gajinder Singh of Pallu, Aditya and Subhash Sharma of Jaipur and bus driver Neetu Singh of Togawas.
A leg of the driver of the tractor-trailer got amputated and has been admitted to a hospital in Sriganganagar.
According to the police, as bus tried to overtake the tractor-trailer, it rammed into it and both the vehicles overturned.
As bus passengers got trapped in the vehicle, the onlookers pulled the pulled out the injured persons and got them admitted to a private hospital in Rawatsar.
The police said it took more than four hours to restore the traffic on the highway.
In a separate incident, a middle-aged man travelling on a bicycle died after being hit by a car in Hanumangarh. The deceased has been identified as Suresh Dass.
