The police on Monday intercepted an oil tanker at Manaksar terminal near Suratgarh flyover on the Sriganganagar-Bikaner highway and claimed to have seized 180 kg of poppy husk from its occupants. The accused, driver Gurmail Singh (25) of Kotkapura and his assistant Manjit Singh (40) of Bathinda, have been held under the NDPS Act. Preliminary investigation reportedly indicated that the accused had got the consignment from Jodhpur’s Bap area on Sunday. OC

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Ropar is setting up a Sectoral Application Hub to bring about solutions for stubble management, water quality improvement, mapping of hazardous substances in water and soil, deployment of IoT-based Cyber-Physical System technologies in agriculture fields. I-T case against CM deferred
The income tax case against Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh was adjourned till March 21 as the judge was on leave. The case was fixed for hearing of arguments on Monday. In its complaint, the I-T department has accused Capt Amarinder of allegedly making willful omission in the information provide to the department and obstructing I-T officials from performing their duty.
