Following CM Capt Amarinder Singh’s directions to the state police to crackdown on all kinds of liquor smuggling, bootlegging and illicit distillation of liquor, the district police have booked 19 persons and seized 2,350 litre of hooch and some bottles of illicit liquor in the last three days.

A senior police officer said a major seizure was made in Malout subdivision.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
