Two arrested for stealing mobile tower equipment worth lakhs
Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the theft of mobile phone tower equipment in Abohar, police said. Hanumangarh Superintendent of Police Arshad Ali reported that equipment worth lakhs of rupees was stolen from a mobile tower in Bhadra on January 7. The theft was discovered when Purushottam Dass Sharma, chief in-charge of security for Indus, a private mobile tower company, filed a report.
The arrested individuals, identified as Rajesh Meghwal (21) from Dhulkot Bhiwani, Haryana, and Aman Meghwal (23) from Shadipur, Delhi, are believed to be part of a larger interstate gang. Two Radio Relay Units (RRUs) were taken from the tower at Hathipura. The company notified local technician Farooq Khan, who arrived on-site to find two of the suspects being apprehended by authorities, while a third suspect, later identified as Kuldeep, managed to flee. Authorities suspect the same gang is responsible for previous tower thefts, including incidents at Indus and Jio towers in Biran village last month.
