Two persons, including a woman, were electrocuted during a Nagar Kirtan organised at Kot Sadar Khan village under Kot Ise Khan police station in Moga.

The deceased have been identified as Joginder Kaur of Padri village and Ranjit Singh of Rodewal village in Ferozepur.

Seven others have got burn injuries. They have been admitted to a private hospital in Kot Ise Khan.

It is alleged that the incident happened when the Palki Sahib (used to carry the Guru Granth Sahib during processions) during the Nagar Kirtan got caught in the overhead electric current wires, electrocuting many of its participants.

SHO Kot Ishe Khan Arshpreet Kaur Grewal said the police were investigating the matter.
