Two residents of Muktsar were killed in a road accident near Rawatsar in Rajasthan while participating in the “Salasar Daak Dhwaja Yatra”, a foot pilgrimage during which devotees carry a sacred flag by turns. Three others from Muktsar were also injured in the mishap.

The group had set out on pilgrimage from Muktsar on Saturday night to pay obeisance at the Salasar Dham temple in Rajasthan. Around 4 am on Monday, a speeding car hit them, killing two persons, said local residents. They said the car driver lost control as he reportedly dozed off and the vehicle rammed into the group of devotees.

Tilak Nagar resident Kapil Arora was killed on the spot. Ashok Kumar, a government primary schoolteacher at Jandoke village, was seriously injured and taken to a hospital at Malout, where he succumbed to his injuries.
