The Jalalabad police have arrested two persons and booked two others for excavation of sand in the last three days.

On August 25, officials of the Mining Department had conducted a raid on an illegal sand quarry at Sukhera Bodla village, Jalalabad, in Fazilka district.

Those nabbed have been identified as Joginder Singh, a resident of Ojhanwali village, and Gurjant Singh, a resident of Bhamba Wattu Uttar village. They were held on the basis of a tip-off from Chand Bhan drain at Palli Wala village on Sunday.

Besides, Kala Singh of Palli Wala village was booked for selling sand after excavating it from different areas.

Cops also booked an unidentified person for carrying sand on a tractor-trailer near Kathgarh village.

The accused have been booked under Section 303 (2) of the BNS and Section 21 of the Mining Act.
